ZARA – Saucer Hat Block with Two Different Pressers

This is an oval saucer fascinator hat block that comes with one or two dome shaped pressers. The saucer hat block has an elegant up turned brim on one side.

The base of the saucer hat block measures 26cm (10.2″) x 23cm ( 9″) in diameter and stands 5cm (2″) tall. The pressers measure about 15cm ( 5.9″) in diameter. The presser blocks have a 2,4 cm (1″) hole bored in it for mounting on a work stand; it will fit on most hat block stands.

PRESSERS

You can purchase this set either with both pressers or only one of them. You can use the pressers to press down the material and create the bump in the centre of the hat, but they can also be used to create a pillbox style base to mount the saucer hat on.

Presser A – this presser is taller and will create a deeper bump to accommodate the head. See pictures with black hat.

Presser B – this presser is shorter and will create a shallow bump to accommodate the head. See pictures with pink hat.

The presser is placed over the top of the hat block to form the ‘bump’. Place a weight on the top, this way it will be easier to pin the sinamay or other material round the rest of the block. Once the fascinator has dried, use your imagination to cut the desired shape. Usually milliners prefer an asymmetrical outline where one side of the fascinator is higher than the other.
